ROMA – MTV ha annunciato le categorie e le nomination per la prima edizione degli “MTV Movie & TV Awards 2017”, che celebrerà gli attori, le storie e i momenti che hanno definito la cultura pop dello scorso anno. Il comico e star della TV e dei film Adam Devine condurrà lo show live dallo Shrine Auditorium di Los Angeles, domenica 7 maggio. In Italia lo show andrà in onda nella notte tra il 7 e l’8 maggio alle 2 del mattino su MTV (in esclusiva su Sky al canale 133). La versione sottotitolata, invece, andrà in onda martedì 9 maggio alle 19.30 sempre su MTV (Sky 133).
I film più ‘nominati’
“MTV celebrerà la cultura dei giovani alimentando le loro passioni”, ha dichiarato Chris McCarthy, Presidente di MTV, VH1 e Logo. “Siamo entusiasti di avere Adam Devine come nostro maestro di cerimonia per i nuovi MTV Movie and TV Awards in cui onoriamo le migliori storie, i migliori attori e i personaggi amati dal pubblico”. L’horror di successo “Scappa – Get Out” guida il gruppo dei candidati con sei nomination, incluso Movie of the Year (presentato da Toyota C-HR), Best Villain e Best Fight Against the System. La star del film, David Kaluuya, ha ottenuto le sue prime nomination in un award show così importante negli Stati Uniti per Best Actor in a Movie, Next Generation e Best Duo con Lil Rel Howery. Inoltre, tra gli altri titoli in testa alle nomination ci sono “La Bella e la Bestia” e “Stranger Things” con quattro candidature ciascuno, e “Atlanta”, “Game of Thrones”, “Il Diritto di Contare”, “Logan”, “Moonlight” e “This Is Us”, con tre nomination ciascuno.
Nuove categorie e modifiche
Le nomination di quest’anno vedono una trasformazione di alcune categorie e l’introduzione di altre nuove. Mentre restano Best Kiss, Best Hero, Best Villain e molte altre, MTV ha eliminato la divisione tra film, televisione e serie in streaming, nominando la
miglior performance indipendentemente dal tipo di media su cui sono diffusi. Inoltre per la prima volta, le categorie di Best Actor e Best Actress sono state sostituite con Best Actor in a Movie e Best Actor in a Show, senza distinzione di genere. Tra le categorie più iconiche, Best Fight è stata modernizzata in Best Fight Against the System che riflette la crescente consapevolezza del pubblico e l’attivismo intorno a questioni di giustizia sociale più ampie. Inoltre MTV ha introdotto categorie nuove e specifiche come Best American Story, che premia lo show o il film che mette in mostra l’America nella sua forma più aperta e diversificata; Tearjerker (Strappalacrime), assegnato alla scena che meglio rappresenta la connessione emotiva tra il pubblico e i personaggi; Best Host, che evidenzia la varietà dei personaggi che parlano ai giovani d’oggi; Best Reality Competition e Next Generation. Ulteriori categorie saranno svelate in prossimità dello show.
