Il conto alla rovescia per i nuovi episodi di Grey’s Anatomy è cominciato. La premiere della stagione 17, definita da Ellen Pompeo come “una delle nostre migliori stagioni”, riprende un mese dopo l’inizio della pandemia, quando Meredith, Bailey e il resto dei medici si trovano in prima linea in un mondo completamente diverso. La stagione tratterà quindi anche il tema della pandemia dove, insieme alla stretta attualità, troveranno spazio anche le vicende personali dei medici con le loro storie, che avranno il compito di alleggerire una trama resa drammatica dalla volontà di omaggiare gli eroi della lotta al Coronavirus.

Le storyline principali seguiranno DeLuca (Giacomo Gianniotti) con il suo problema di salute mentale, i triangoli amorosi Meredith (Ellen Pompeo)-DeLuca-Hayes (Richard Flood) e Tom (Gregory Andrew Germann)-Teddy (Kim Raver)-Owen (Kevin McKidd), la fresca e coinvolgente storia tra Amelia (Caterina Scorsone) e Link (Chris Carmack) con il loro bambino e Jo (Camilla Luddington), che dovrà affrontare un futuro aperto alle novità dopo l’addio di Alex. Nel cast un nuovo ingresso: l’attrice Mackenzie Marsh interpreterà sarà Val Ashton, una donna sola ma intelligente, con un buon senso dell’umorismo e che lavora nel settore dell’editoria.

Atteso in questa nuova stagione è il ritorno di Derek Shepherd, interpretato da Patrick Dempesey. A cinque anni dalla sua scomparsa, torna nei sogni di Meredith confinata in un letto del suo ospedale per curarsi. La dottoressa viene ritrovata priva di sensi e necessità di immediato soccorso. Attorno a lei, ovviamente, tutti i colleghi in apprensione. Derek e Meredith si incontrano, in sogno, sulla riva dell’oceano. Questo ricongiungimento, però, ha fatto subito insinuare il dubbio tra i fan: il personaggio interpretato da Pompeo è in pericolo di vita?

This Is Us, con 8 nominations agli Emmy, torna il 24 novembre alle 22.40 subito dopo i primi due episodi di Grey’s Anatomy. Poi dall’1 dicembre tutti i martedì un episodio a settimana alle 21.50 sempre su FOX.

Come nelle precedenti stagioni, la quinta continuerà a raccontare le vicende della famiglia Pearsons attraverso flashback. Nel flash-forward conclusivo della quarta stagione, Randall (Sterling K. Brown) e Kevin (Justin Hartley) sono al capezzale di Rebecca (Mandy Moore) insieme allo zio Nicky e si apprende che Kevin ha due figli gemelli avuti da Madison. Sempre nel futuro, Jack Damon e sua moglie Lucy danno alla luce la loro primogenita, Hope, e si scopre l’identità della figlia adottiva di Kate (Chrissy Metz) e Toby (Chris Sullivan): è Hailey, che raggiunge i due neo genitori per conoscere la nipote. L’attore Sterling K. Brown ha rivelato che gli episodi della nuova stagione includeranno “uno scavo del passato di Randall, connesso di nuovo alla famiglia“, e la co-protagonista Chrissy Metz ha anticipato che “gli spettatori scopriranno perché Kate ha iniziato a usare il cibo come meccanismo di coping”.
